The project

Mirador had six years of good instinct and nothing holding it together. Two buyers, three cities, and a wordmark that changed weight depending on who set it.

The brief

The founders came to us the month they signed a third lease. Nothing was broken, exactly — the clothes were right and the rooms were right — but the shop in Porto and the shop in Antwerp did not look like they had been made by the same people, and the lookbook looked like a third company entirely.

  • Audit of eleven years of printed matter, packaging and signage
  • Two weeks on the floor in three rooms, listening to how staff describe the clothes
  • A naming review that kept the house name and retired four sub-labels

What we found was not a design problem first. It was a vocabulary problem: nobody agreed on what Mirador sold, so every studio they hired invented an answer. We wrote the answer down before we drew anything.

What shipped

A system narrow enough that a store manager can use it without calling us, and deep enough that it will not run out in five years. One wordmark, one grid, one photographic rule, and a set of decisions about paper that the buying team now makes on its own.

  • Wordmark, monogram and a sixteen-page standards book
  • Window, label and packaging templates for all three rooms
  • A photographic direction the in-house team shoots against

Eight months on, the house has opened a fourth room and briefed two campaigns without us on the call. That is the outcome we were hired for, and the only one worth measuring.
